For this purpose, the system adopted for all scientific studies; It is the International System of Units (SI) based on seven basic units: “Meter, Kilogram, Second, Ampere, Kelvin, Mole and Candela”. The function of Metrology Laboratories is to realize these basic units and units derived from them in a way that can be used as a reference for measurements in every field and can be used practically easily.
Metrology creates the infrastructure of the measurement, standardization, control and quality system in a Country, ensuring the formation of a comprehensive system for the determination of product features and quality control for quality security.

“Legal Metrology”, another field of Metrology, includes Scientific and Technical conditions, as well as ensuring the accuracy and unit unity of measurements within the scope of Legal, Administrative and Organizational principles within the country.
Metrology; It has an important place in raising the standard of living of a country, protecting the environment and consumers, ensuring the safety of people, scientific and technical research and many other issues. It was accepted at the 11th (CGPM) “Conference on Measures and Weights”.

(SI) DEFINITION OF BASIC UNITS
