Load cells are devices frequently used for weight or force measurement. Load cells measure changing weight or forces using an array of sensors. How these sensors are connected is important and connection colors may differ by different manufacturers.
Load Cell Connection Colors
Generally, load cells have four or six connection colors. These connections represent two or three pairs of wires. Load cell connection colors may be different by different manufacturers, but the following color codes are commonly used:
- Red: The positive (+) connection of the load cell.
- Black: The negative (-) connection of the load cell.
- Green: The zero (0) connection of the load cell. This connection is used to reset or de-comb load cell readings.
- White: Another zero (0) connection. Some load cells may contain two zero connections. This connection can be used to increase the sensitivity of the load cell or change its output.
- Yellow: On some load cells, used instead of the zero (0) connection.
- Blue: On some load cells, used instead of the second zero (0) connection.
Load cell connection color codes are usually printed on the load cell. However, in some cases, the load cell cable may need to be cut or reconnected.
